According to my Google search there are some 26 million relevant sites for the key input words “mortgages home”. Perhaps it’s just as well that I am not seriously looking for loans, mortgages, home refinancing or loan companies at this time. I would be lost. On the other hand, when I was looking so many years ago, there was a lot of legwork involved in walking from one bank to the next, waiting in line, explaining how I would make the repayments, how old I was and testifying to the fact that I expected to live for at least another 120 years. Despite the great number of websites dealing in the mortgages, home financing, etc., business, many of them are quite user friendly and one can do the greater part of the business online.

Certainly interest rates and the calculation of monthly repayments are chicken feed to our computers. All you have to do is enter the amount of the mortgage you want and specify the type of mortgage and the period you would like it for and the monthly repayment amount is shot back at you instantly. Then there are sites that offer good advice on the subject of mortgages, home loans, etc. Look at this from one bank: Shop for the mortgage package that best meets your financial needs. If you apply for a mortgage and the lender says you don't qualify, keep in mind that some lenders have stricter credit standards than others. Try someone else. Don't stop shopping after one discouraging experience - or even several. The final point I wish to make here is that there is huge competition between the banks to get their hands on your mortgages, home loans, etc. Do what I did in the old days – legwork. Walk from bank to bank. Show each one the best offer you’ve had to date and challenge them to beat it!
